Hi, I’m Sonya

I’m the heart behind Pet Charm Photography and a lifelong animal lover. I’ve been a photographer for over 20 years and began specializing in pet photography in 2017.

Outside of work, I find joy in simple things like attending pet events, spending time in nature, and being with the people and animals I care about. I’ve also been on a personal journey of growth and healing, which I value just as much as my creative work. It’s what helps me stay present and connected to what matters.

A Life with Animals

I’ve spent most of my life working directly with animals, including managing a cat shelter and an animal hospital, volunteering at a wildlife sanctuary, and running TNR programs for feral cats. I’ve raised many bottle-baby kittens, rehabilitated dogs, and cared for senior and hospice animals with complex needs.

This experience is the heart of my photography work. I’m comfortable and skilled working with a wide range of temperaments and needs, and I always prioritize each pet’s comfort and safety.

I continue to support local shelters by photographing adoptable pets, taking dogs out for enrichment, and fostering when possible.

Photography That Comes From the Heart

I work with pet parents across Southern California, offering both studio and location sessions. Whether we’re at my Riverside studio, in a park, or in your backyard, sessions are relaxed, gently guided, and tailored to your pet’s unique personality.

Every animal is different. Some dive right in, while others need time and space. I’ve worked with shy pets, high-energy dogs, and everything in between. My approach is always flexible, respectful, and centered on your pet.

Meet My Pets

At home, it’s just me and my two daughters, Roxy the Chihuahua and Emily the cat, who fill my world with comfort, laughter, and love.

There was a time when my house was much fuller with seven cats and two dogs. Saying goodbye to each of them was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through. But what I’ve learned is that love and the bond stay with you forever. That’s what I carry into every session. These aren’t just pets. They’re family. For some, they’re soulmates.
